Blazing Saddles
I've been seeing a lot of good movies lately, and this one is right up there. Not having seen it in about 10 years, it was great to revisit this hilarious yet at times sobering comedy. I was most amazed at the brazen racial confrontation in the movie and the at-the-time forward-looking stance on race. It was almost as challenging on race topics as Crash.
Mel Brooks displays his own typical brilliance, and the performance turned in by Cleavon Little is suprisingly good. The movie gets bored with itself towards the end, leading to a confusingly funny denouement. And let's not forget Gene Wilder, also a master.
